Leadville, CO has become synonymous in my mind with the almost unbelievable Leadville 100 foot race** hosted there every year. It is insane to me that I have friends who compete in this bonkers race every year (one of which who has competed consistently without shoes)! With all of this info and connections, I had not actually made the trek out there myself. All that changed a few weeks ago when I went for a lovely day hike in the Colorado sunshine.
**The 2016 Leadville 100 just occurred and my friend Davis Gaul just completed his second race with some staggering results. He improves his time by an unbelievably 6 hours and his finishing place jumped from 154 to 26 this year!
Equipped with long pants (to ward off fly bites), sunscreen, water, pistachios, apples, water and a hat we were off!
As I attempted to have 0% of my skin exposed to the sun, Will sunned himself on a rock like a lizard. He had gained quite the tan during his time in Switzerland and is determined to maintain it.
